Rats need Friends, Family & A Safe home
Rats are social animals and need constant companionship. We will only sell our babies in same sex pairs unless you can prove that you have other rats at home to be their companion's.
It is usually easier on the new babies if they leave with a brother or sister, it helps them adapt to their new home better.

Rats do best in wire cages do to having better ventilation. We do require that before you take your CWR rat's home you have a home all set up for you new babies. This includes safe bedding (No Pine or Cedar). We use Yesterdays News, the softer pellets. These work well for us and the rats. You will need a water bottle, food dish, hide box and toys for your new charges. For food we use a variation of the Subee diet (Link is on our link page).

**Pet's only**
**NO FEEDER'S**
We breed our rats for pets only, We will not consider selling any of our babies as feeders or as breeders for feeders. We do understand that other animals have to eat just like any living thing however they will not eat a CWR rat! Please do not even ask.

**Part of the family**
**No matter how small**
Please Remember that even though rats are not a long term pet, they should get the same kind of treatment as a dog, cat or any other non human member of your family. You should have a good relationship with a vet in your area, you never know when the time will come that vet care is needed. It is better to be prepared then to have to scramble to find one after a problem has started.

**What you will take home with your baby**
We hold our babies within hours of birth usually, it all depends on how the mom is feeling. They are held daily until they are two weeks old (Eye's open) from two weeks on they are held a couple times a day. They really do enjoy then interaction and the mom's usually at this point welcome the break.

With each baby that go's to a new home we provide a weeks worth of food they are used to eating, so there will be less changes at once and less stomach upset. You will also be given a pedigree for your little one, if you wish.

Here is a copy of the mix I make up, It is very simple to mix up, Most from the local grocery bulk bins If you chooce to continue to use this mix for your new rats.

Oat, Wheat, Barley, Sunflower Seads, Pumpkin Seads, Cherrio's, Rice Krispies, Raisin Bran, Granola, 3 Way Rolled grain, Puffed Wheat, Puffed Rice, Pasta & Low Fat/Protein Dog food.

We do require that anyone adopting/buying a rat from CWR sign's an adoption agreement. It is not very extensive, the biggest reason we feel the need to have a written agreement is so that you know what we expect in caring for your new baby. Also it helps us keep the contact information to be able to check with you on the progress of your new friends.

IF FOR WHATEVER REASON YOU CAN NO LONGER KEEP YOU CWR RATS WE ASK THAT YOU CONTACT US SO THAT WE CAN EITHER TAKE THEM BACK OR HELP FIND THEM A NEW HOME.
